Use a separate embossing layer:Place the embossing area on a separate layer and mark it in a single colour (K100) so the finishing area can be identified easily.

Colour values / black:Keep total ink coverage within 8%–250%; avoid four-colour black (C100 M100 Y100 K100), as registration shifts can affect fine text and embossing clarity. For a deeper black, use rich black, e.g. K100 + C40.
Accepted file formats: PDF/AI/PSD. For special finishes, such as a marked embossing layer, supplying AI only is the safest option.

Q: What is the difference between embossing and UV?
Embossing creates raised and recessed shapes you can feel; UV adds surface gloss for stronger visual reflection. Choose embossing for a memorable tactile finish, or UV for an eye-catching glossy focal area.
Q: Why is a smaller embossing area, such as 20 × 20 mm, recommended?
Embossing is formed by pressure, so large, dense designs increase risks to flatness and detail. Focusing on the Logo or a key area usually gives the cleanest, most premium result.
Q: Can fine text be embossed? What are the minimum sizes?
Text of at least 6 pt and lines of at least 0.3 mm are recommended. Finer elements may not emboss fully or clearly; use a medium-to-bold font weight for reliable results.
Q: How should I mark the embossing area?
Put the embossing area on a separate layer and mark it in solid K100 (do not combine it with the print artwork on the same layer). This makes the finishing area immediately identifiable and minimises errors.
Q: What should I avoid in a black design?
Avoid four-colour black (C100 M100 Y100 K100), as registration shifts can affect the edges of fine text. For deeper black, use rich black (e.g. K100 + C40) for a more reliable, solid result.
