Pre-Installation Guide

Understand your pre-installation preparation and on-site considerations at a glance — from vehicle wraps and exhibition booths to portable display kits — to help you prepare with peace of mind and open on time.

On-Site Installation by Printing Banana Technicians (we handle the more complex work that needs on-site technical skill)

Vehicle Wraps: Three things to do before you set off, for a snug, long-lasting wrap

Applies to: full or partial wrap advertising on private cars, minibuses, commercial vehicles, trucks, etc. Handled on-site by Printing Banana's professional technicians.

Preparation Before Installation

  • Confirm the vehicle model and the areas to be wrapped (side doors, rear, tailgate, etc.), and provide photos and dimensions of the vehicle (if available)
  • Thoroughly clean the vehicle the night before installation, especially bird droppings and grease; do not install in damp or rainy conditions (reschedule if it rains)
  • Provide the car keys or arrange a place where the vehicle can be moved, so the technician can adjust the angle and fit

On-Site Notes

  • Vehicle wrapping is not a dust-free process; tiny dust specks may appear, which is normal
  • Sharply curved areas are treated with a heat gun; the wrap is briefly heated during installation to increase its stretch
  • After installation, leave it to rest for several hours and avoid washing the car or prolonged sun exposure straight away

Quick Checklist

  • Vehicle photos + dimensions (if available)
  • Car keys / vehicle-moving arrangement
  • Weather on the day: clear and dry
  • Cleaning done (the night before)
  • Confirm whether a special permit is needed (commercial vehicles / public transport)
Compliance Reminder
  • Avoid covering the licence plate, mandatory markings and key sightline areas (such as the windscreen) — if commercial vehicles or public transport are involved, a separate permit is required
Tips
  • Arrange with the technician to inspect the seams and any bubbles together when installation is complete; dealing with them immediately saves later rework

Exhibition Booths: The final 48-hour checklist before the show (avoiding misalignment and hold-ups)

Applies to: overall booth construction, light boxes, display walls, floor stickers, exhibition table setups, etc., with on-site construction handled by Printing Banana's technician team.

Preparation Before Installation

  • Confirm the booth number, delivery and unloading times, unloading dock location and venue entry rules (e.g. registration of entering vehicles)
  • Provide exhibit dimensions, structural drawings and the required power positions and power requirements
  • Mark in advance the transport route for large/heavy items and whether a lift or manual carrying is needed

On-Site Notes

  • High walls or tall light boxes require an assessment of the fixing method (whether wall-penetration or nailing is allowed, or only floor support)

Quick Checklist

  • Booth number + venue-operations contact
  • Delivery / unloading schedule
  • Power positions and power requirements
  • Fire-resistance / venue-compliance certificates for materials (if required)
  • Spare tools and fixings
Compliance Reminder
  • Some venues require fire-resistant material specifications; confirm the material labelling and certificates in advance
Tips
  • Prepare spare fixings (tape, hooks, screw kits) and a simple toolbox for temporary adjustments
  • We recommend arriving early to survey the site, so you can plan the placement and installation method

Large Backdrops / Background Walls: Safety and stability come first; details determine the quality

Applies to: corporate events, press conferences, award ceremonies, stage backdrops and other projects that need a stable, large-area background wall, with Printing Banana technicians handling the structure and fixing.

Preparation Before Installation

  • Indoor or outdoor venue
  • Confirm the background wall dimensions, whether it stands against a wall or free-standing, and the floor condition of the venue
  • If hanging or wall-penetration fixing is needed, coordinate and apply with the venue in advance
  • Whether spotlights are needed

On-Site Notes

  • Anything above 3m should be reinforced to increase wind resistance and stability

Quick Checklist

  • Final confirmation of the design file (colour, joins, edge wrapping)
  • Installation site map and floor material description
  • Support structure (aluminium frame / spider frame / wood)
Compliance Reminder
  • If the background wall involves construction height and public safety, it may need to comply with venue or minor-building-works regulations; before installation, confirm whether third-party inspection or an application is required
Tips
  • Do a quick layout on the floor first (marked with floor stickers or tape) before the actual installation, to avoid the pattern shifting up, down, left or right
  • Use a spirit level to ensure the main body is level, then apply the main image
  • Adding a batten on the back increases flatness and resistance to curving

Customer Self-Installation (simple, portable display kits, ideal for quick setup on your own)

Pop-Up Fabric Backdrop: An on-site solution two people can set up in fifteen minutes

Applies to: talks, shop-window displays and pop-up events; easy to carry and quick to deploy (installed by the customer).

Preparation Before Installation

  • Lay the fabric flat before arriving on site and confirm there are no serious wrinkles or stains
  • Check that the telescopic poles and clips are complete, and rehearse the deployment process on the ground first

On-Site Notes

  • For indoor use only; add sandbags or weights to secure the base if necessary

Quick Checklist

  • Fabric laid flat and print quality checked
  • Telescopic poles, hooks and fixings complete
  • Weights / sandbags (if required)
  • Two-person teamwork
Tips
  • If the fabric is wrinkled, gently smooth it with a low-temperature iron or a steamer

Fabric Display (Spider Frame): One pull and it opens, but don't forget these small details

Applies to: touring exhibitions, pop-up sales and counter setups; the structure is lightweight but needs attention to tension and flatness.

Preparation Before Installation

  • Spread out the display-frame parts and confirm there is no damage at each connection point
  • Check the image orientation and position in advance

On-Site Notes

  • When opening it, have two people work together, fixing the middle first before pulling the corners tight
  • Avoid pulling hard and deforming the frame

Quick Checklist

  • Display-frame parts complete (springs, hooks, support lines)
  • Print image, orientation and position
  • Sandbags or weights (if required)
  • Two-person teamwork
Tips
  • Lay it flat on the ground and fit the artwork first, then raise the whole thing together, to reduce wrinkles and misalignment
  • Label the position of the parts before storing, for faster installation next time

Roll-Up Banner: Lightweight, but don't forget this stability step

Applies to: counter promotions, shop displays and event-entrance signage; simple to operate but easily toppled by uneven ground.

Preparation Before Installation

  • Check the pull-up pole and base before opening, ensuring the spring retracts smoothly
  • Make sure the ground is level and it is not easily bumped by passers-by

On-Site Notes

  • In high-traffic locations, we recommend reinforcing with sandbags or weights
  • When storing, retract slowly and evenly to protect the printed surface

Quick Checklist

  • Pull-up pole and base intact
  • Sandbags or weights (if required)
  • Retract slowly when packing away
Tips
  • Design the roll-up's focal point at the golden position of eye level to improve readability
  • When retracting, slowly align with the base to avoid scratching the image; two-person teamwork is easier

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What if it rains on the installation day?

A: If the work must be done outdoors (such as vehicle wraps or outdoor backboards), you should reschedule or move to indoor installation immediately if it rains; Printing Banana will negotiate the closest feasible time with the customer to avoid dampness affecting quality.

Q: How long after a vehicle wrap is finished can it be washed or moved?

A: Most vehicle wraps need to rest for 24 hours before we recommend starting to wash the car or rinse it with a strong jet of water; this varies by material, and the technician will advise the specific recommendation on site.

Q: Am I responsible for applying for venue or government permits?

A: The common situation is that small booths, roll-up banners and pop-up fabric backdrops need no extra permit; but if external-wall adhesion, large hanging installations or advertising on public transport vehicles are involved, prior application may be required, along with purchasing third-party liability insurance. Printing Banana can help assess and remind you which situations require the customer or venue to handle.

Q: How can colour consistency with the sample be guaranteed?

A: If you have high colour requirements, you can request a test colour proof first; making a colour proof or small sample before the formal print run can greatly reduce the risk of colour differences.

The above is compiled by the Printing Banana engineering and customer service teams, aiming to provide professional, practical and down-to-earth advice to help you prepare with peace of mind and improve cooperation efficiency.
