Knife-coated Banner (Coated Banners) | For Large Outdoor Banners

Designed for high tensile strength, scratch and abrasion resistance, wind resistance and durability, making it suitable for long-term outdoor advertising, construction-site hoarding and street banners. High-definition single-sided full-colour UV printing is recommended for richer colours and better fade resistance.

Maximum width: approximately 150cm (wider banners will be joined)
Ideal outdoors: waterproof and abrasion-resistant
Windy locations: we recommend eyelets / rope / pole pockets
Textured reverse: greater scratch resistance and durability

Quick Selection (decide in 30 seconds)

1

Long-term Outdoor Use | Street Banners / Construction-site Hoarding

For durability + scratch resistance, a knife-coated banner is the most reliable choice. We recommend eyelets along all four edges secured with cable ties.

2

Windy Locations | Footbridges / High-level Hanging

We recommend eyelets at all four corners or eyelets along all four edges, with reinforced cable-tie points to reduce the risk of wind damage.

3

Pole-mounted Display | Stage / Exhibition Booth Banners

For a taut, tidy display, choose a 4cm-wide pole pocket (for inserting a pole) for easier installation and a neater appearance.

Why Choose a Knife-coated Banner? (reliability built for outdoor use)

Wind- and Tear-resistant | High Density and High Tensile Strength

Thicker and more substantial than standard canvas banners, it is more durable when displayed outdoors for long periods or in windy locations and is less likely to tear.

Scratch- and Abrasion-resistant | A Reliable Choice for Hoarding / Street Banners

It withstands everyday knocks and rubbing well; the textured reverse offers greater scratch resistance, making it suitable for long-term outdoor display.

High-definition UV Printing | Richer Colours and Better Outdoor Fade Resistance

It reproduces artwork accurately with vivid colours, making it ideal for large banners designed to catch the eye from a distance.

Product Features

Uses (Most Common Applications)

  • Street banners / outdoor advertising (long-term display)
  • Construction-site hoarding / shopping centre exterior advertising
  • Event stages / large-venue banners (viewed from a distance)
  • High-level hanging locations (with eyelets / rope)
Tip: If the banner will face strong direct sunlight, allow for an installation angle that reduces glare and helps maintain legibility.

Material (Why It Is So Durable)

  • Chemically synthesised knife-coated banner material with high tensile strength and excellent tear resistance
  • The front is flexible and smooth: artwork is printed on this side
  • The reverse is rough and textured: it offers greater abrasion and scratch resistance
  • Suitable for outdoor use: waterproof, fade-resistant and highly durable
Colour variation is normal: large-format printing generally has greater colour variation than printed products (see the five quick points below).

Recommended Finishing (For More Secure Installation)

  • eyelets at all four corners: simple fixing, commonly used for short-term displays or smaller sizes
  • eyelets along all four edges: distributes tension more evenly and is recommended for windy locations
  • 4cm-wide pole pocket: for pole-mounted displays that stay straighter and tidier
  • Extra-large sizes: may need to be joined (visible joins are normal)
Tell us the size and installation location, and we can recommend the most secure combination of finishing options.

Popular Sizes (No Guesswork Needed)

60 × 180cm (railing / fence) 80 × 200cm (popular banner size) 100 × 300cm (shop / event banner) 120 × 400cm (large-scale advertising) Custom size (based on venue width × height)
Note: The maximum width is approximately 150cm. Wider banners will generally be joined, and visible joins are normal.

Pre-press Notes (Five Quick Points)

1
Colour variation: large-format printing generally has greater variation than printed products.
2
Same file, different result: colours may vary with the material, ink, batch and production time.
3
Reprinting previous artwork: a colour variation of approximately ±10% on a repeat print is normal and is not grounds for reprinting or return.
4
Joining: the maximum width is approximately 150cm. Wider banners will be joined, and visible joins are normal.
5
Proofreading / charges: we do not provide proofreading. Installation and large-format artwork processing are charged separately. If lamination is not required, please state this in the order notes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is a knife-coated banner suitable for outdoor use? How should it be secured in windy locations?
Yes. Knife-coated banners have high tensile strength and resist scratches and abrasion, so they are commonly used outdoors for long periods. For windy locations, choose eyelets along all four edges or add a pole pocket, then secure the banner with cable ties or rope to distribute the tension evenly.
Q: What is the maximum printing width? Will the banner be joined?
The maximum width is generally approximately 150cm. Wider banners will be joined. Visible joins are normal, so avoid placing important text near a join when preparing the design.
Q: Will a reprint from the same file have exactly the same colours?
Large-format printing is strongly affected by the material, batch and environment. A colour variation of approximately ±10% on a repeat print is normal. If colour accuracy is especially important, tell us the intended use and acceptable degree of variation in advance.
Q: Do I need to allow bleed / a safe margin?
Bleed is not always required for large-format printing, but leave a safe margin around text and important elements so that eyelets, edge finishing or joins do not affect the content. If you require a white border, add the outline to the artwork and include a note.
